Well, I've got something to download now.
I like that you've lised the Sure Bets but not who recommended them. It's a bit like a guessing game.
Wow, the cancelled IPO already... you guys didn't waste any time!
Could it be that Winn got the job because of the state of the economy? In other words, her operational acumen and cost discipline may be what Wynn Resorts need in this recession. If things were going great, perhaps they would have promoted someone from the inside- but I'd say that extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. If there's one thing that Harrah's brass knows, it's how to squeeze every last dime out of their guest.
So what's your guess for the Sure Bets?
Just a great show, fellas. Thank you. I recall hearing that the biggest issue the publishers of Cosmo had was their belief that people would refer to the casino resort in Las Vegas as Cosmo, instead of Cosmopolitian. I thought of that each of the 25 (or so) times Hunter said Cosmo.
With the caaveat that I have listened to the first 5 minures of the show, my guess:
Patron - Chuck
Sans Serif - Dave (though it could be Hunter)
Settebello Pizza- Jeff
Instagram - Hunter (though it could be Dave)
Are we that predictable?
Dave, I knew you'd ask that.
Yes you are Dave. ;-)
It was actually easier once I assumed the tequila to be Chuck and the Pizza to be either Dave or Jeff. I just didn't see Jeff recommending a particular font. :-)
FWIW, I like Settebello, too. Great VPN. But my favorite all-around pizza place is Montesano's. I think they were a Sure Bet a while back.
Really? Now this does surprise me. Montesano's has never been on my "foodie radar" before, and I've probably passed it many times when I've walked up to Anthem.
I guess we have yet another joint to add to my "To Eat List".
Great show. Don't know why I'm a week late in listening but terrific topics.
What age groups will Cosmopolitan appeal to? Will 55 and up customers be attracted to it like they are to Bellagio and Wynn? Will "Just the right amount of wrong" scare them off, or if 55 and up people like Cosmo, is that a bad sign for the younger demographic Cosmopolitan obviously wants?
I agree with Paolo Melo on Marilyn Winn. If she has the operational skill sets, and Steve Wynn must believe she does, she can certainly adapt to Wynn's philosophy especially with Steve being such a hands-on guy.
Jeff Simpson's comment on even a possibility of Loveman being interested in Wynn Resorts made me cringe. It would be a disaster, imo.
The Diamond and Star hotel/restaurant ratings are obviously a symbiotic relationship between the parties and can't be taken too seriously. Here are the 45 pages of AAA Diamond rating requirements:
