Next month MGM MIRAGE will ask the Clark County Planning Commission to extend a plan to add another hotel tower at MGM Grand. The original application was submitted in 1998 and would include a 49 story hotel/casino with 1,700 guestrooms, connecting to the convention center.
The project had previously been delayed due to a shift in 'corporate priorities' (read: merge with Mirage Resorts and Mandalay, build City Center, etc...). Will this ever get off the ground?

Hunter, was this discussed on MGM's Conference Call? I haven't seen any mention of it.
I checked into MGM Grand a few minutes ago after three nights at Wynn and four at The Mirage. Talk about Vegas burnout!
I may take it easy tomorrow and post some notes and photos.
The first Residences at MGM Grand Tower looks complete on the outside and is more impressive than I thought it would be. The main gatehouse entrance is off Harmon and will also look first class.
Nope, not on the call. This is me scouring various Clark County public records that are on file or pending. Just part of what I do to bring the best info to my readers. :-)
Along with this hotel tower, they applied to build two or three more condo towers once these are completed.
I'm heading out to Las Vegas tomorrow afternoon to check out Red Rock, et al.
How was The Mirage? I hear Japonais construction is underway and the Ava lounge is now history.
One interesting tidbit from the conference call - there will be a new ultra-lounge at The Mirage called 'Revolution', themed on the Love show ('Beatles + CDS' as Baldwin stated).
Hum...That's pretty interesting. I can't imagine they are adding more there besides the condo towers??? A new 1700 room tower huh? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
