All kinds of interesting stuff today...

Of course the big news is Red Rock Station, opening in just a few days.

Articles in the Review Journal:

Personally I am looking forward to checking it out for myself and taking some photos in about a week and a half.

Beyond that, a little news on Wynn's Encore and the Golf Course stuff:

I think there is an error in that Wynn/Encore story. It states Wynn Encore will open in Dec. of 2007???? I don't think so! I wish! He wishes, we all wish!

Brian, Good catch. The 10-K Hunter posted here not long ago gives a year-end 2008 opening.

Encore
As a result of the strong demand for the amenities and services offered by Wynn Las Vegas, the continued strength of the Las Vegas market, and our desire to maximize the potential of our substantial real estate assets, we intend to develop Encore on approximately 20 acres on the Strip, immediately adjacent to Wynn Las Vegas. We have refined the design of Encore to include a 2,054-room hotel tower fully integrated with Wynn Las Vegas, containing 144 suites and 1,910 guest rooms, as well as an approximately 44,000 square foot casino, additional convention and meeting space, as well as restaurants, nightclubs, swimming pools, a spa and salon and retail outlets. We expect to commence construction of Encore in the second quarter of 2006 and open Encore to the public by the end of 2008. The project budget for Encore is approximately $1.74 billion, including approximately $70.0 million to be incurred for construction of a new employee parking garage on our Koval property, a related pedestrian bridge and costs to be incurred in connection with preparing the Broadway Theater to host Monty Pythons Spamalot.

The article is also guilty of one of the most common errors associated with WLV (and a pet peeve of mine) and that is that Steve lives in a Fairway Villa.

I'm really excited about Red Rock. Hopefully, if I make my May trip by car, I'll venture out to see it.

Yeah, I've seen that incorrect attribution several times and it never gets corrected. I guess that is either because no one cares or Steve is okay with people not knowing exactly where he lives.

Just got back from Red Rock's grand opening...

Well if you've ever been to Green Valley Ranch this place makes it look like a dump. It is nicer than 80% of the properties on the strip.

Now for the good stuff, you'll find 3000+ machines if that's your thing and almost every flavor of video poker you can think of. As far as tables the have a little bit of everything including a nice poker room and a small high limit area with a few tables.

As far as the design of the place, it's ultra modern with water flowing all over the outside of the property. The carpets are awesome and maybe even better than Wynn's. Also a nice touch is that most of the restaurants either have outside access or are next to a door.
My only complaint was lack or air circulation or air conditioning, but I think that's just an opening day glitch.

I took a few pics before I was threatened by security so check them out. I will take some more tomorrow during the daytime and do a better write up when I get a good look at the property and I should be getting a tour of one of the rooms as well.
