Frank Rosenthal, Dead at 79
Posted by HunterFrank Rosenthal, the inspiration for the character played by DeNiro in the movie "Casino" has died at age 79.
Rosenthal was a Stardust casino executive before it was seized by the FBI. He was a legendary bookmaker that was banned from Nevada casinos as a member of the 'Black Book'.

Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal was a real innovator. He opened up the first race and sports book parlor. Sure, he worked for the Outfit in Chicago. But he was one of the greatest sports handicappers of all time. Lefty is now a legend.
