The Mirage volcano will be officially reborn on December 8th but they've been testing the new setup for the past few days.

I'll be in Las Vegas on the 8th to see it for myself and report back.

Thanks for posting Hunter! Granted the video probably doesn't do it as much justice as being there in person, but I can't say I was that impressed. The end of the video where the flames are coming out of the water for a more continuous time looked kind of cool though.
Looking forward to your report on the 8th, especially some new pics on how the outside of Encore is shaping up......although I know you're really looking forward to two weeks from then when you'll be inside the joint.
Granted its not the finished product and its better to see it live, but my initial reaction is no big deal. The actual top of the volcano seems 100% the same and they just added the flames out of the base of the volcano which in large part seem to make the volcano less realistic. I wish they would have created a lava effect some how, to me that would have taken to the next level. The final judgement however will be in person, YouTube often limits the effect.
I'm patient to wait on that one. I'm going to the Strip for a concert later in that week and will try to check it out then.
Fireballs synchronized to Beatles music? I guess I was expecting more... Perhaps something like the scene from one of the "Lord of the Rings" movies where the giant blue vortex of flame rips upward straight into the sky and forces the clouds to boil and blow part... Now *that* would get someone's attention. (LOL!)
If you were to request a room with the best view of the Volcano show would it be at TI, Venetian, or Mirage?
I'm thinking Venetian but have only stayed at TI and Venetian and not Mirage.
Joey - Acutally you are probably right. When you are at the Mirage, you are only seeing the show from the back side. Since the show was designed to be viewed best from the Strip, the Venetian does have the best view I would guess.
The music is probably a "temp track," with the newly composed score being held in reserve for the grand debut.
Between the flames and the Shake-O-Vision, I kept expecting the "Cloverfield" monster to rear his head, but that's just me.
